Despite MSM Fear Mongering, the Likelihood of an Actual Closure of the Straight of Hormoz is Slim
In the five decades or so Iran has often talked about shutting down the Strait of Hormuz which's a crucial channel where approximately 20% of the worlds oil is transported. Whenever tensions rise between Tehran and Western countries these warnings come up again putting upward risk on oil markets. However even though the media frequently highlights these warnings Iran has never actually taken action. Why is that? The explanation can be found in the geopolitical factors that make it very improbable for Iran to do so.
